Bargello
This technique has its origins in needlepoint. It uses patterned paper, preferably strips, to create an interesting accent for your cards and scrapbook pages.
 

Instructions:

Start with some strips of Designer Series Paper and a sheet of Whisper White cardstock cut to the correct width for your project. My DS strips are 1/2" wide, but you can use other widths and even vary the widths within the same project.
Start at the bottom of the Whisper White and adhere the first strip. Cut it off.
Lay the next strip offset from the first to create a pattern. Continue adding strips and cutting them to length until you reach your desired effect.
Trim your Whisper White card stock and add any accent pieces you wish.
   
  Here is the finished project.
