Back to Main Tips Page Painting with Beach Important Tip #1 - Wear old clothes when working with Bleach. Important Tip #2 - Bleach should be used in a well ventilated area. Utilizing a Stampin Up!® Aquapainter, or even a standard paint brush, you can utilize bleach to enhance your projects. Important Tip #3 - If you fill an Aquapainter with bleach, you probably don't want to use that Aquapainter for water again or you might ruin your projects. Permanently label the bleach-filled Aquapainter to avoid confusion. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. When painting with bleach, you will be removing the color from cardstock, or even from images you have already stamped. This can be useful for two different techniques. In the first technique, you use the bleach directly to add highlights, or remove unwanted color from your stamping or cardstock Just paint in the areas you want to lighten. See Photo #1. The "White" highlights on the Dress, Shoes, and Purse have been painted with bleach. In the second technique, you can use the beach to remove color from cardstock before re-coloring with Stampin' pastels and a blender pen.. By removing the background color prior to adding your final color, your final color will show up much more vividly in your completed project. For the sample shown, (Photo #4). I first stamped and then heat embossed the flower image using black embossing powder on Pretty In Pink Cardstock. (See Photo #2) Next, I used the Aquapainter to remove the color from within the flower. (See Photo #3) Last I used Stampin' Pastels and a blender pen to re-color the flower. (See Photo #4) Important Tip #4 -Not all Paper reacts to the bleach equally. Test a scrap first to see how it reacts. Photo #5 is an example of cardstock that didn't bleach well. I have tried to beach out the flower just like Photo #3. |
