| Instructions: Using this very simple technique, you can easily make cardstock or chipboard look like leather. I would not recommend Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock for this technique, because they will not stand up well to the multiple ink layers. I would suggest chipboard for the very best results. | ||||

For this technique, you must use Craft ink. I am using the colors Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, and More Mustard. You will notice that I have the Craft Stampin' Spots. This is a great way to get all of the Craft Ink color in a very affordable manner. The spots are also very easy to use for direct to paper techniques.

Starting with the darkest color, Close to Cocoa, and pick up ink with a Stampin' sponge. I cut my sponges into quarters, because it provides me with more surface area and a nice small point to work with. Dab the ink all over the surface. It does not matter if it is perfectly even, that will just enhance the look.

Here is the finished letter, after adding the Creamy Caramel and More Mustard layers. You must allow each color to dry before moving on to the next. If you are impatient, you can use a heat tool to speed up the process. You will notice that a bit of the original chipboard color still shows through. If you are using a very light color of cardstock, like Confetti White, you might want to start be coating the paper with Sahara Sand Classic Ink, so there are not white spots in you "leather".
