| Instructions: Using this very simple technique, you can easily make cardstock or chipboard look like suede. I would not recommend Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock for this technique, because they will not stand up well to the multiple ink layers. I would suggest chipboard for the very best results. | ||||

For this technique, you must use Craft ink. I am using the colors Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, and More Mustard. You will notice that I have the Craft Stampin' Spots. This is a great way to get all of the Craft Ink color in a very affordable manner. The spots are also very easy to use for direct to paper techniques.

The only difference between this technique and the Faux Leather is we are using the direct to paper method to transfer the ink onto the surface. I started be completely covering the chipboard with Close to Cocoa craft ink. Make sure to let the project dry completely before moving on the the next color.

After adding the Creamy Caramel and the More Mustard. I wanted to give my suede a more aged look, so I added some Very Vanilla Craft ink. I used the direct to paper technique again and then blended the ink in with the tip of my finger. You could also use a Stampin' sponge or sponge dauber to blend, if you wanted to keep your finger clean.

Here is the finished letter. You could also choose a different color palette and create a faux marble or granite piece using this same technique.
