| Instructions: This uses the same techniques used in Basic Masking, but instead of excluding the main image, you are excluding the space around the main image. | ||||

Start by creating your mask. Is used the large star punch. I punched the shape out of a Post-it note, so it would stay in place. You could also use a piece of copy paper, but do not use cardstock, because it is too thick.

Use a sponge dauber or stampin' sponge to color the cardstock inside the
mask. This will define the star shape when the mask is removed. You can also stamp and image, like a balloon and then cut out the inside to add a decoration. You then would not need to do this step, because the stamped lines of the balloon would define the space. |

After sponging, stamp the image before removing the mask.

Here is the finished image with the mask removed.

I repeated this technique multiple times to create this grouping. The Night of Navy stars have no additional image stamping, just the sponging.
| Here is the finished scrapbook page. This is a great technique to use if you are trying to add elements to your pages, without making them bulky. | ||||
