Back to Main Tips Page Masking with Punches I used a single stamp and repeatedly stamped the image for my sample. This technique would also work well with a large stamp, a background stamp, or a roller wheel. |

Create the mask you will use. I used the 1 3/4" and 1" circle punches. I punched a random pattern out of a piece of grid paper. You could use any scratch paper, but you want to use a thin paper, not cardstock for the mask.

Use a temporary adhesive to hold the mask in place on the cardstock. I used Dotto, but others like two-way glue would also work.

Attach the mask to the cardstock, so that all the edges are covered. It is
best to make the mask slightly bigger than your cardstock. Stamp the image. |

Remove the mask and you can see the shapes that remain.

I wanted to further highlight my circular images, so I created cardstock rings. The Kiwi Kiss rings were created by punching the 1" circle punch and then punching the 1 1/4" circle punch. The Pacific Point rings were made with the Circle Scissors Plus. TIP: Always punch/cut the smaller shape first!
