Stand-Up Card

Instructions: The cardstock used to make the base of this card is 4 1/4" x 11". Score the base piece at 1", 2 3/4", 3 3/4" and 5 1/2" and then from the other side at 1", 2 3/4" and 3 3/4".

Stamp a repeated image, if desired all over the main body of the card. It is much easier to do this before you fold along the score lines. I stamped snowflakes, but they are very difficult to see.
Use your cutter or a hobby blade to cut along the 5 1/2" score line. You want to start 5/8" from the edge and cut a slit along the score, leaving 5/8" on the other end as well.
Here you can see the slit cut all the way across the center score. The white cardstock can slip easily through. This is where the inside piece of the card will "emerge".
The inside pieces for the card are 2 3/4" x 5 1/4" and 2 1/2" x 5". You will notice that I have left about an inch at the bottom of the card. Anything lower than an inch will not be seen when the center of the card is pulled up.

I have used a wallet size picture for the inside of my card. This project is a very fun and different way to display a holiday photo.

The ribbon is used to pull up on the card to "open" it. While it looks nice, it is not absolutely necessary. The card can be "opened" without it.

Fold the body of the card along all of the score lines. Make sure that the images you stamped are on the outside.
Slide the inside piece through the slit in the cardstock. Use sticky strip to attach the bottom of the inside piece to the l" end folds of the card body. The two ends will fold inward and both be stuck to the inside piece.
Here is the side view of the card with both 1" ends attached to the inside of the card.
Here is the finished card closed. I have added a sentiment to the front of the card. This piece is attached between the 2 3/4" and 3 3/4" score lines, so that it does not affect the opening mechanism of the card.
Here is the finished card shown opened. It stands completely on its own, since the body of the card forms a pedestal that the inside emerges from.
