Suspension Card

Instructions:

Start by creating the pieces that are going to be suspended. It is easiest to use a punch, because of uniformity. The inside pieces need to be smaller than the opening that you will create in the card. Some of our punches that work together make this very easy to do. The small and large tag, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle and square punches work well.
Use the larger punch (I used the large tag punch) to create the opening in the card front, where the other piece will be suspended.
Decorate the two suspension pieces. Here is the image of what my two tags look like.
Flip your card front over so the inside of the card is facing up on the table. Punch out two small squares or circles using the 1/4 inch punches. These small peices will cover up the mini glue dots that are used to hold the fishing line in the card. You could also cut small peices of cardstock if you don't have the punch.

I use fishing line, because it is inexpensive, easy to work with and is almost invisible. You can also use strong thread or embroidery floss for your suspension piece.

Lay the fishing line across the center of the opening and attach it using glue dots at the top and bottom. You want the line to be fairly taunt and in the center. The grid paper makes centering the line very easy.
Place sticky strip along the center of the back of the suspension pieces. The sticky strip will make sure that the pieces do not fall of the fishing line.
Flip the card over the lay the suspension piece that will be the back under the fishing line. Press down on the line to attach it to the sticky strip. Make sure to center this piece in the opening, so it can move freely.
Attach the front suspension piece and the card is finished, except for embellishment.
Here is the finished card. You can see how the suspended image can move in the punched space.
